CD $10,000, renews April 17
Committee Reports:
Membership: Karen gave Marlowe all the new membership applications to process and mail info to. Karen will provide Marlowe with a welcome letter to new members. At this time, we have 40 paid members, 17 unpaid, 12 lifetime, 7 associate and 1 honorary. Karen will send 2nd invoices to those who have not paid. After March 31st, those not paid will be dropped from the roster. Karen suggested raising dues. Tabled until next year.
Marketing: Glenn and Rick will be meeting to discuss brochures. Existing brochure needs a mailing address, Karen suggested using the treasurer’s address. We are considering a brochure to promote our entertainers for hire, to drive potential costumers to our website. Rick is going to create a members only page for minutes to be posted on the web privately. We still need members’ feedback on the website and members’ web addresses.
Entertainment: Nothing to report.
Business Discussed:
Old Business:
Marshall Brodien Roast: Chuck, Robbie and others have spoken with him. Marshall is more interested in a tribute type event, rather than a roast. Chuck said Marshall was going to make a list of names of people he would like involved and possible dates, possibly looking at September. Robbie and Glenn are looking into holding the event at the Raue Center in Crystal Lake – drinks, appetizers, and the tribute. Theatre holds 700, we need to check into parking and valet options, also logistics for herding 700 people around. Possible Sultan theme – doorman, Arabian nights, etc. Discussion ensued regarding the contents of the show – we think it should include some acts and video clips along with the tribute. This will be discussed further when we get more information and a date. Ken Mate possible emcee. Involve Lance, Marshall Jr, Mark Holstein.
New Business:
New members; Smarty Pants and Jon Stetson were both accepted as new members. Peggy Gross contacted us via the website to join. She is already an associate member.
Show for the Illinois Burn Center Summer Camp I Am Me: This is a Jon Stetson project. III Sheeters just asked to support it, do a press release, attend if possible. The date is June 18, 2008 1:15, 35-40 children. Located at YMCA Camp Duncan near Buffalo Grove. Dennis DeBondt, possibly John Cassidy, maybe others 2-3 talent to perform. Dennis is available in the afternoon. More info on this when Karen gets it from Jon.
Ron Onesti shows: Karen needs to reschedule with Ron
Raue Center Summer shows: Karen left a message with Glenn to see if this is on and how many. Karen suggested an all children’s show, so Mary Macaroni can be on the bill
Calendar of standard events:
April 8th, spring function
July 21st, summer function
November 11, annual meeting
January 4th, 2009 annual meeting
Would like to schedule 1-2 more events, lectures or other, to be discussed next time.
April Function: Same as last year, Karen will check with Frank about the Legion Hall, Ash checking on the Masonic hall in Skokie, Jim checking on hall above the legion. (As of 3/11/08, as I write the minutes, Frank secured the Legion hall. We need to let him know we need a bartender and need to make arrangements to get a key if Al does not have one) Organization same as last time, club buys a few main dishes, potluck, $5 for members, bring videos, instruments, card, etc. Karen and Rick will make a flyer and send with the newsletter.
Documentary: New member Franky Vivid is interested in doing a III Sheeter documentary. Karen is to meet with him soon to discuss.
Goals for the year: At the annual meeting we discussed many possibilities - on with the show, Veteran’s hospital, Rialto, Pickwick. WGN, Blast Membership Drive , holiday school benefit, lectures. THE BOARD’S HOMEWORK FOR THIS MONTH IS TO PICK 1-2 OF THESE PROJECTS AND WE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN. BE PREPARED TO COME TO THE APRIL 8TH BOARD MEETING WITH YOUR VOTE. Ash suggested we try to barter with the Legion Hall, Masons or Veteran’s club – entertainment for space for our functions. Ash suggested going to magic clubs and other clubs for a membership drive. Karen will go with him.
Newsletter: Karen will be putting together a hard copy newsletter to mail next week with the flyer. BOARD HOMEWORK>>>>> BY WEDNESDAY MARCH 12, SEND HER SOMETHING FOR THE NEWSLETTER…ANYTHING….JOKE…WHAT YOU ARE DOING….ADVICE…ANYTHING….
No final comments were made.
