WHAT IS A III SHEETER?
Back in the days of vaudeville, Posters listing the acts were displayed on bilboards in front of the theater. These bilboards were about six feet high and three feet wide. Posters of this size were printed in three separate sections and known as "three sheets".
Some of the vaudeville performers had a practice of standing by these bilboards, in full make-up, hoping to be recognized by the public. This unsubtle way of calling attention to themselves, became known as "Three Sheeting".
At the first Board meeting that was held at the Little Corporal Restaurant on Wacker Drive downtown in 1964, Charter Member Don Alan affectionately suggested the name "Three Sheeters Entertainment Club" and it stuck!
The club started out as just a social club for entertainers to unwind and tell "war-stories" but has since evolved into a club that is contributing to the communities as well!
